About Me

Andre Esteves is chairman of Brazilian investment bank, BTG Pactual. Esteves, who started with BTG as an intern, sold the company to Swiss banking giant UBS in 2006 for $3.1 billion, forming the Brazilian subsidiary UBS Pactual. In 2009 he engineered the sale of UBS Pactual to investment firm BTG and became chairman of the board and CEO of the new firm. He was accused of obstruction of justice for Brazil's largest corruption scandal, Operation Car Wash, and jailed for almost three weeks in 2015. He was acquitted in 2018 and returned to BTG. BTG Pactual announced plans in 2025 to buyout minority shareholders of Banco Pan at a premium in a bid to make the publicly-traded Brazilian bank a wholly-owned subsidiary.
