About Me

Apoorva Mehta is a cofounder of San Francisco-based grocery delivery firm Instacart, which went public on the Nasdaq under its legal name Maplebear in 2023. Mehta served as chairman and CEO for nearly a decade after cofounding the company in 2012. He stepped down as CEO in 2021 and chairman in 2023. He still owns about 7% of Maplebear's common stock plus options to acquire another 1% of the company. In 2022, private investors valued Mehta's new health-tech startup Cloud Health Systems at $200 million. Born in India, Mehta lived in Libya before moving to Canada, where he eventually studied engineering at the University of Waterloo.
