About Me

Chris Urmson is the cofounder and CEO of Aurora, a self-driving vehicle tech startup that plans to commercially launch in 2027. Aurora has partnered with automotive supplier Continental to develop driverless trucks that can navigate highways without a driver. Before founding Aurora, Urmson had an 8-year tenure at Google, where he helped develop the company's self-driving program, Waymo, as chief technology officer. Urmson has led automated vehicle programs for over 20 years, including Carnegie Mellon's award-winning DARPA Grand and Urban Challenge Teams.
