About Me

Dan Gilbert cofounded what would become Rocket Mortgage, the second-largest mortgage lender in the U.S., in 1985 at 22 years old. Gilbert took the firm public as Rocket Companies in August 2020. Rocket originated $101 billion in mortgages in 2024. He owns the NBA's Cleveland Cavaliers. He and his companies have committed more than $7 billion to acquiring and restoring more than 100 properties in downtown Detroit and Cleveland. Gilbert also cofounded online sneaker sale platform StockX, which became a unicorn in June 2019.
