About Me

DeWitte cofounded Oklo with his wife, Caroline Cochran, in 2013. He is CEO, while Cochran is chief operating officer. DeWitte and Cochran own 16% of the company combined. Oklo went public in 2024 at a valuation of $1 billion, after merging with a Sam Altman-backed special purpose acquisition company. Before starting Oklo, DeWitte graduated from the University of Florida with a bachelor's degree in nuclear and radiological engineering and from MIT with a master's and PhD in nuclear engineering. Oklo's name comes from the uranium-rich mineral deposits at Oklo, Gabon, known for undergoing self-sustained fission two billion years ago.
