About Me

Jerry Moyes and his father founded Swift Transportation in 1966 with one truck, moving cotton and imported steel between Arizona and California Swift grew to nearly 20,000 trucks and some $4 billion in annual revenue before it merged with Knight Transportation in 2017. Moyes sold much of his stake in Knight-Swift prior to 2022. Now concentrates on SME Industries, a steel fabricator and construction company in Utah. Moyes owned the Phoenix Coyotes hockey team, with minority partner Wayne Gretzky, until the team filed for bankruptcy in 2009 and was sold to the NHL.
