About Me

Joe Gebbia, cofounder of Airbnb and Samara, a company that develops prefabricated homes to generate rental income, was appointed U.S. Chief Design Officer in August 2025. Gebbia is best known as a cofounder of Airbnb, the peer-to-peer home rental platform launched with Brian Chesky and Nathan Blecharczyk in 2008. He holds nearly 7% of the company's stock. He sits on the boards of Airbnb and Tesla. In 2022, Gebbia bought a minority stake in the San Antonio Spurs. Gebbia and Chesky met in college at Rhode Island School of Design, where Gebbia was on the board of trustees for 12 years.
