About Me

Liesel Pritzker Simmons and her brother Matthew Pritzker sued their family for a chunk of its Hyatt Hotels fortune and received around $500 million apiece in 2005. Their uncle Jay Pritzker (d. 1999) founded the hotel chain and their uncle Donald Pritzker (d. 1972) managed and developed it. Their father Robert Pritzker (d. 2011) ran the family's industrial conglomerate Marmon Group, which was acquired by Berkshire Hathaway in a series of transactions beginning in 2008. Three of Matthew and Liesel's step-siblings, seven cousins and their father's cousin Nick Pritzker are also billionaires. Liesel cofounded and runs impact investing firm Blue Haven Initiative with her husband Ian Simmons.
