Lu Xiangyang was working at a local branch of the People's Bank of China in 1995 when he teamed up with his cousin Wang Chuanfu to start BYD, then a battery maker. Lu is now vice chairman of the company, which has grown into one of the world's largest EV makers. Lu also runs his own investment firm, Youngy Investment Holding Group.
