Mark Kurtser

About Me

Mark Kurtser is the founder and majority shareholder of MD Medical Group, one of Russia's largest healthcare providers, with 90 locations operating under the brand "Mat I Ditya" (Mother and Child). Kurtser is a physician who formerly served as head of the Centre for Family Planning and Reproduction, Moscow's largest state maternity hospital. At the same time, he was the Chief Obstetrician-gynecologist of the Moscow Healthcare Department. A former educator with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University, he founded MD in 2006, which later opened the first private maternity hospital in Moscow. MD Medical was listed in London in 2012 and now trades on the Moscow Stock Exchange. Kurtser, who sold shares worth $140 million in the IPO, invested in a number of Russian healthcare startups.
