About Me

Matthew Rabinowitz is the cofounder and executive chairman of clinical genetic testing and molecular diagnostics firm Natera. He cofounded the Austin, Texas-based company in 2004 after his nephew died from a severe genetic condition six days after birth. Rabinowitz and his cofounder Jonathan Sheena took the company public on the Nasdaq in 2015; he owns about 2% of the company's shares plus several options tranches. In 2017, he cofounded clinical whole genome analysis platform company MyOme. The firm was valued at $187 million in December 2025 and Rabinowitz owns a 19% stake. Born in South Africa to parents who were both doctors, Rabinowitz came to the U.S. in 1992 to attend Stanford University.
