About Me

Neil Shen is the founding and managing partner of investment firm HSG (also known as HongShan) which was the China arm of Sequoia Capital until 2023. The investor in Meituan, Pinduoduo, TikTok parent ByteDance, and Kimi developer Moonshot returns to the Midas List for a 15th consecutive year. Shen was a successful entrepreneur himself earlier in his career, cofounding travel site Trip.com before joining Sequoia. Shen had previously worked as an investment banker at Deutsche Bank Hong Kong, Chemical Bank, Lehman Brothers and Citibank. The Hong Kong-based investor has backed some of China's biggest tech companies like fintech Ant Group, fast fashion giant Shein and video platform Kuaishou, which now has a $30 billion market cap.
