Park Hyeon-joo founded Mirae Asset Global Investments (formerly called Mirae Asset Investment Advisory) and a venture capital affiliate in 1997. He is known as the father of South Korea's mutual fund industry and launched the country's first closed-end mutual fund in 1998. Now operating in 16 markets, his firm has approximately $272 billion in assets under management.
