Ratmir Timashev is the cofounder and former CEO of Columbus, Ohio-based data management firm Veeam. He and his college friend Andrei Baronov cofounded Veeam in 2006 and sold it to VC firm Insight Partners for $5 billion in 2020. Before Veeam, Timashev and Baronov cofounded systems management tools outfit Aelita Software in 1996; they sold it to Quest Software for $115 million in 2004. In 2026, Timashev launched Oh.io, a VC firm that's aiming to invest $100 million to bring 100 early-stage startups to Columbus, Ohio over five years. Timashev is a major donor to his alma mater, Ohio State, giving around $150 million including a $110 million gift in 2020 to establish the Center for Software Innovation.
