About Me

Rick Jackson founded Jackson Healthcare, a healthcare staffing and services company. He is the 2026 Republican nominee for governor of Georgia. Jackson's father abandoned the family when he was 9 months old. His mother was an alcoholic with a 6th-grade education who worked as a cocktail waitress. He grew up in Techwood Homes, a public housing project near the campus of Georgia Tech where he got his start selling newspapers, peanuts and scalping tickets to football games. Jackson began building and buying healthcare companies in the 1970s and united them into Jackson Healthcare in 2000. It now generates $3 billion in revenue from 22 businesses, focused on healthcare staffing. In 2020, Jackson bought the only amoxicillin antibiotics plant in the U.S., in Bristol, Tennessee, out of bankruptcy and relaunched it as USAntibiotics. Foreign nurses brought to work in the U.S. have filed suit in federal court alleging that a Jackson company violated labor laws and engaged in a racketeering conspiracy by promising nurses "the American dream," then locking them into predatory stay-or-pay contracts. Jackson has denied the claims.
