Robert Bass and his brothers inherited $2.8 million each from their oil tycoon uncle Sid Richardson in 1959. Robert has helped launch a half dozen investment shops including his Oak Hill Advisors. Bass' private jet start-up Aerion collapsed in 2021 amid reported financial difficulties. With his wife Anne, Bass has given at least $70 million to Duke and $55 million to Stanford.
