About Me

Ron Baron is the CEO of Baron Funds, a money management firm he founded in 1982; it manages about $53 billion. The buy-and-hold investor's flagship fund, Baron Growth, has an annual turnover of less than 1.5% and net assets of about $4 billion. Baron owns one of the biggest estates in the Hamptons, which he assembled from 2001 to 2009 at a total cost of $152 million. It's worth much more now. The son of an engineer (dad) and purchasing agent (mom) for the federal government, Baron wanted to be a doctor but didn't get into medical school. Baron became a securities analyst in 1970 and named his dog Big Mac after one of his first successful stock recommendations.
