About Me

Sanjay Mehrotra has served as chairman, president and CEO of semiconductor firm Micron Technology since 2017. Mehrotra was born in Kanpur, India, and immigrated to the United States at age 18 to study electrical engineering and computer science at the University of California, Berkeley. In 1988, he cofounded the flash-memory pioneer SanDisk with Eli Harari and Jack Yuan. He helped take the company public in 1995 and sold it to Western Digital in 2016 for around $16 billion. Mehrotra soon took the chief executive job at Micron, when the stock was trading around $30. It has since soared exponentially thanks to AI demand. He holds a 0.1% stake in Micron, which topped a $1 trillion market cap in May 2026.
