In 2023, Seo returned as chairman of his Celltrion group, two years after stepping down from the role, and pledged to make major acquisitions. Seo's eldest son Jin-seok is cochairman of Celltrion Inc. Seo started Celltrion Inc. in 2002 and took it public in 2008.
