Shayne Coplan is the founder and CEO of Polymarket, which is one of the world's largest prediction markets. Coplan launched Polymarket in 2020 to facilitate bets on everything from sports results, political elections, entertainment awards and more. In October 2025, billionaire Jeff Sprecher's global stock exchange operator Intercontinental Exchange invested $2 billion in Polymarket at a $9 billion valuation. The deal made Coplan the world's youngest self-made billionaire at the age of 27, thanks to his estimated 11% stake in Polymarket. An NYU dropout, Coplan had previously secured a number of other billionaire backers including Airbnb cofounder Joe Gebbia, Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin, Figma cofounder Dylan Field, Zynga cofounder Mark Pincus, Uber cofounder Travis Kalanick and hedge fund veteran Glenn Dubin. Billionaire Peter Thiel's Founders Fund and Coinbase, cofounded and run by billionaire Brian Armstrong, are also investors in Polymarket.
