Since its launch, Robinhood's no-commission trading model has revolutionized the brokerage industry. In 2021, Robinhood went public on the Nasdaq exchange at a $32 billion valuation. Tenev owns more than 6% of the company. The son of two World Bank staffers, Tenev was born in Bulgaria and grew up in Washington, D.C.
