About Me

Yu Yong's wealth mainly comes from his holdings in CMOC Group, formerly China Molybdenum, one of the world's largest producers of the metal. He also owns a stake in global lithium-ion battery leader CATL. Yu's investment holding firm Cathay Fortune is an early investor in Zeekr, an electric vehicle brand under China's automobile giant Geely. Zeekr went public on the New York Stock Exchange in 2024. In June 2025, CMOC took Canada-listed Lumina Gold private in a $419 million deal. Lumina fully owns the Cangrejos gold-copper project in Ecuador.
