Markus Blocher is a billionaire thanks to two Swiss chemical companies, EMS-Chemie and Dottikon ES Holding. Blocher got his start working at EMS-Chemie, the Swiss polymer and chemical manufacturer that his family has run for decades. He received a stake in the firm when his father, Christoph Blocher, sold his shares to his children to take a seat on the Swiss federal council. Markus eventually sold his shares in EMS-Chemie and took over Dottikon, its spinoff.
