About Me

Shmuel Harlap was part owner of Colmobil, Israel's largest car importer. He died in August 2026 at age 82. Harlap's father acquired Colmobil in 1962. Harlap became chairman in 1982. He was also an active investor. He put $10,000 into automotive tech startup Mobileye in 2001 and eventually acquired a 7.2% stake. When Intel purchased Mobileye for $15.3 billion in cash in 2017, Harlap netted $750 million from the deal, making him a billionaire. Harlap was a major investor in Israeli startups, particularly in the cybersecurity, nanotechnology and life sciences industries.
